Copyright
As soon as someone creates something in a fixed and tangible form of expression, that creation is then copyrighted (Copyright Basics, 2017). This means that the work is now protected from being used by someone else without permission. It prevents work from being stolen or used by others as their own creation. Creations such as recorded music, recorded movies, written stories or poems, drawings, and paintings are all examples of things that are protected by copyright laws. Fair Use Fair use allows you to borrow someone else's work under the right circumstances. As long as the owner is cited, copyrighted material can be used without the owner's permission for transformative purposes such as to comment upon, criticize, or parody (Stim, 2016). |

Cheating in the Classroom
When thinking about cheating, most people think about asking a friend for answers on a homework or test. However, there are multiple ways that one can cheat on an assignment. Using a technological device to calculate or look up answers on a test without permission is another form of cheating. Plagiarism is another form of cheating. Plagiarism is when someone copies work without permission and passes the information off as their own (Turnitin, 2017).
